Japan with Youth For Understanding (YFU)Exchange Student in Nagano city, JapanFor one summer between 10th and 11th grades, I had the opportunity to travel to Japan as a foreign exchange student. There were a lot of firsts involved. My first time on an airplane (From Minneapolis to San Francisco), and my first trip abroad, for starters. YFU is a terrific program, similar to other exchange programs out there. I had a three day orientation, where myself and all the other students headed to Japan got to stay in the dorm rooms at Stanford University. We got a chance to hang out and get to know one another, in addition to learning more about a country most of us knew very little about. |
