Santa Monica Blvd./West Hollywood
Unlike the rest of the country, where the major large populations have gay neighborhoods, LA has a gay city - West Hollywood (aka WeHo). As you've come to know and love many of the gay 'ghettos', there tends to be lots of attitude the closer you get to their epicenters. As far as my travels have brought me, this presented me the most. Sitting at a Starbucks on Santa Monica Blvd., across from the 24 Hour gym located across the street, the area oozes beauty, brawn and 'tude more than anywhere I have been. Enjoy, but beware!
If you are traveling here for the first time, or just getting out to explore the gay night life here, I begin my exploration from the west, as you might enter the area, on Santa Monica Blvd., and continue east. You will be aware you have crossed the line when rainbow flags begin dotting the landscape at regular intervals.
